Social standing is never used by the girls

The one thing that intrigued me was that so far none of the girls competing against America have used the fact that she use to be a five. I'm surprised that most of the girls didn't try to scare or bully other girls out of the selection by using their social standing. Even though they are all considered to be threes now, I thought that other girls besides Celeste would use this to their advantage. I'm sure that they have something else that's keeping them in the selection, like ties to influential people in the kingdom. Many of the girls have dedeveloped a friendship with each other, so I'm sure that they won't go after each other. It would have been nice to see some tension between the girls, but them being friends is nice too.

  1. I agree with you. Although I'm glad that most of the girls were able to develop positive relationships with each other, I wish that Celeste was not the main cause of tension between the Selected girls. It makes her character come off as more of a cartoon villain than an actual person.

  2. I like that most of the girls get along and that they can be friends in such a tense an atmosphere as the one the competition provides, but I do wish that there was more of a fuss between the girls. It would spice things up a little bit, however, there are more books in the series so perhaps there will be some more competitiveness as the time for Maxon to chose his future bride comes near. On the other hand, I never did realize how making Celeste the main cause of tension portrays her as a cartoon villain. I definitely get the high school queen bee vibe from her because everyone else is getting along, but she is never happy unless she is in control. Her sabotages on girls is classic popular girl behavior.
